This unit study will breathe fresh life into your homeschool as you learn the history of the candy cane, watch how they’re made (both by hand and in a factory), solve candy cane puzzles (Math), build your own candy cane tower (STEM challenge), laugh over candy cane mad libs (grammar), conduct your own candy cane experiment, and finish it all off with a fun treat!

Age Range: This Candy Cane unit study has something for everyone. All of my children, from my kinder to my 17-year-old, enjoyed the included learning activities. My older kids were a little more interested in the scientific principles behind the experiment, but my 6-year-old asked plenty of questions, too.

Materials Required: You’ll need a box of borax (found in the laundry aisle at the grocery store), several chenille stems, a box of candy canes per participant, and ingredients for sugar cookies if you want to make the candy cane cookies.

*You’ll be able to immediately download this file after purchasing. This is a printable product, nothing will be shipped.
